The Last Word On Guns

The best analysis of gun enthusiasts I have read anywhere since the most recent round of gun-enabled mass murders. Oh by the way, did anyone notice at all that the entire news cycle yesterday was dominated by the final act of a mass shooting, with guns, that killed at least four people. Despite the fact that on my own television I saw CNN cut directly from a flaming hideout with a gunman inside to the House chamber for the State of the Union address, I didn’t hear a single news person make the connection. Meanwhile, a random collection of recent events.

Little Rock, Ark. — Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe this afternoon signed the so-called Guns in Churches bill into law. The law gives individual churches the right to allow guns inside their buildings.

College Park, Md. — After a 23-year-old graduate student at a university tried to start a fire in his residence, he used a 9mm handgun to shoot and kill a 22-year-old male roommate and wound another 22-year-old male roommate before using the weapon to kill himself. Police later found a semiautomatic Uzi rifle with ammunition, a machete, and a baseball bat in the gunman’s shoulder-pack. Family members said the shooter was taking medication for a diagnosed mental illness. He was able to legally buy both the handgun and the Uzi, according to police.

Alameda, Calif. — A 40-year-old man was shot in the back while attempting to get to his gun when two male robbers entered his residence about 7:25 p.m. Monday. The victim was in critical condition.

Caldwell, Idaho — A 34-year-old man was shot by his 41-year-old wife during a domestic dispute. The incident began as the couple argued Sunday and he told his wife to shoot him. Thinking the gun was unloaded, she pointed it at him and pulled the trigger to scare him with the sound of the trigger click. The gun fired, striking the man. He is hospitalized in intensive care and she was arrested.

Mass Shooting In St. Paul Suburb

Just another mass shooting killing a child, nothing to see here, move along.

Coburn’s Evil Plan Defeated

Tom Coburn seems to be involved in one thing after another that hurts women in a major way. It’s a pattern throughout his entire career.

An American Hero

Charles Albert Poland, who saved the lives of 22 children last Tuesday in Alabama.

They Asked For Guns, They Got Guns

Idaho legislature gets rid of the rule banning guns in the Capitol building. Man shows up and exercises his “rights,” frightening little kids with a shotgun.

Another Gun Crazed American Day

In Alabama, a crazed man who had already shot at his neighbors recently but was allowed to keep his guns, boards a school bus, demands children for hostages, and shoots the bus driver dead. Takes a kid hostage to his underground bunker.

“He’s very paranoid,” her husband said. “He goes around in his yard at night with a flashlight and shotgun.”

“Everybody up the hill tried to avoid him,” he said.

Patricia Smith said her children told her what happened on the bus: Two other children had just been dropped off and the Smith children were next. Dykes stepped onto the bus and grabbed the door so the driver couldn’t close it. Dykes told the driver he wanted two boys, 6 to 8 years old, without saying why.

According to Smith, Dykes started down the aisle of the bus and the driver put his arm out to block him. Dykes fired four shots at Poland with a handgun, Smith said.

“He did give his life, saving children,” Mike Smith said.

Patricia Smith said her daughter, a high school senior, began corralling the other children and headed for the back of the bus while Dykes and the driver were arguing. Later, Smith’s son ran inside his house, telling his mother: “The crazy man across the street shot the bus driver and Mr. Poland won’t wake up.”

Patricia Smith ran over to the bus and saw the driver slumped over in his seat. Her daughter used another child’s cellphone to call 911.

Wayne LaPierre wants to protect the “rights” of this man to keep having a gun after firing at several people.

Meanwhile, 6 people were shot in Arizona at the very moment that Gabrielle Giffords was testifying about a previous mass shooting Arizona, which put a bullet in her head and killed 6 of the constituents she planned to meet with, including a 9 year old girl. The Arizona mass shooter is still on the loose.

Papa John’s CEO Is A Liar

Stay away from this pizza tycoon and his attempts to make money by bashing the Affordable Care Act. He is simply doing a variation on Chik-Fil-A’s anti-gay publicity sales stunts. They are paying corporate PR people to attack bloggers who post the video below, therefore I am posting it.

The Shooter Who Wasn’t

Innocent man was charged in Texas campus shooting, when he was simply a shooting victim.

Four Shot In Texas Campus Shootout

Allowing college students to be armed on campus, great idea. Either gunman carrying a concealed weapon onto campus was illegal in Texas, but that doesn’t stop idiot Texas legislators wanting to make it legal. If concealed weapons had been legal, presumably the one fired upon first could have made a “stand your ground” legal claim as an excuse for shooting back, which is insane.
