Thanks to people who never gave up. Never forget, Reagan chose tiny Philadelphia, Mississippi, whose only claim to fame was the murder and subsequent successful cover-up of the murderers by the town, as the place to launch his 1980 Presidential campaign. Most likely the preacher arrested Thursday was standing in the courthouse that day, enjoying himself and very much in tune with Reagan’s message in being there. The LA Times also has the story, but behind all of this is the work of one great journalist:
Jerry Mitchell.
