Constituents around the nation have been ringing Senators’ phones off the wall, demanding to know their position on the anti-lynching resolution. The result has been that some who wished to hide their opposition have made themselves co-sponsors of the bill, after the fact. This is allowed under Senate rules. Since this is a simple resolution apologizing for the Senate’s shameful role in blocking laws to prevent lynching (aka murder), it’s reprehensible that anyone would fly in the face of history and refuse to cosponsor the bill. There are still 16 holdouts however at this point. That means that the list below is no longer up to date. It make take 48 hours for the final dust to settle.
