Bush Causes Constitutional Crisis in Iraq

Juan Cole– today’s situation clearly states that a new Parliament must be formed; it’s too late (but they are doing it anyway) to request an extension for the drafting of the constitution. The deadline for such an extension request was August 1; but Bush forced the Iraqis not to request the extension, so now their interim constitution must be blatantly violated by denying a new election, which is called for as of a few hours ago.
