This is one of the thousands of people who died in New Orleans for lack of food, water, and medication, days after Hurricane Katrina had come and gone. The desperation and fear of those trapped people who had to make the improvised grave is obvious by the sign they left behind. CNN reports at sundown that the recovery of the bodies has not begun; there are still too many people to save still being found. It has been over a week, and still today volunteer professional paramedics and firefighters who have been on location for days are reporting that FEMA totally blocks them from helping in the rescue and recovery in any way. Vehicles and equipment that could make the difference between life and death are being kept off roads that were always dry that can take you right into the edge of the submerged area, just as they always could as Chertoff and Brown flatly denied that 25,000 people at the Convention Center starving and dying even existed. The bodies, and the media stories about how they died, and the medical examinations (what few are done) are the proof, they are the evidence, of how these people died of neglect and dereliction of duty by the highest officials in the land. Refute this, Karl Rove; see which hero you can slime this time to escape responsibility for your boss.
The New York Times explains that he is working full time on just that. It’s up to us to educate and explain what is happening in this country (the evil PR campaign of lies to escape responsibility) and to stop it. If we don’t, the Big Lie will rule this country. They are focusing all of their energies and attention in an attempt to cover up the biggest, most heinous governmental mistake in domestic history. We must not let them get away with it; if we fail to stop them, we aren’t really fully human beings ourselves.
