Sorry to break the momentum (especially with a war going on), but did anyone notice the Pork Spending Bill that passed the house… did I say Pork? I meant Highway.. really. Thoughtfully passed on Friday (passes the 20 minute media attention rule by 2 days!).
One estimate shows it dumps $112 billion onto the federal debt. 3,000 pet projects. In all honesty, I’d prefer money be spend on state projects than presumptive hot meals in Iraq, but I just cringe thinking about fiscal responsibility and pet projects. Will Bush actually veto it? I’m not sure. Cutting pork projects makes sense to most voters, until it comes to your own disctrict. I’m think whatever happens, he’ll do it on a late Friday afternoon.
And why the hell didn’t my Rep get me $16 million for “pedestrian walkway improvements” like Tom DeLay got for his constituents?
