New York Times headline: “Las Vegas Makes It Illegal to Feed Homeless in Parks” – Note the use of the word “homeless” as a quasi-noun. This is one of the most insidious things you can possibly do with the English language, and is always a sign of bias by the writer against the humanity of human beings who are homeless. I’d be very proud, if I were in Vegas, to be arrested for breaking this “law” and heading to court. Humans, most of them fellow American citizens, are not pigeons. It costs $75 to get a worker ID card from the city of Las Vegas, without that it’s almost impossible to get a job.
