Tech police Chief Wendell Flinchum said the shooter shot himself inside Norris Hall. Officials have not named the shooter.
Tech officials defended their decision to continue classes after the first shootings, saying their information at the time indicated that it was an isolated incident and that the shooter left campus.
“You can second guess all day. We acted on the best information we had,” Flinchum said.
“We can’t have an armed guard in front of every classroom every day of the year,” Steger said.
No campus official can be truly prepared for a historic massacre like this, but these guys are going to be ripped to shreds for these statements. Did they decide not to cancel classes in an attempt to avoid bad PR for the school, to protect its image? Things like this have happened at other colleges, including the University of Oklahoma.
As detailed two posts below this, 9 times as many people were massacred on Saturday in Iraq.
