68 Dead in Baghdad as US Withdraws Troops

The latest escalation in Baghdad bloodshed occurs just as the US military announces they are pulling 2,000 troops out of the capitol city. The official purpose of the “surge” operation was to pacify Baghdad; violence there is actually rising even as the US announces troop withdrawals. There’s no way to attribute this most recent attack to the troop withdrawals, however it seems to contradict the US claim that more troops are needed in order to have less violence.
