Pepsi Flack in Racial Attack

So Geraldine Ferraro decided to say some really idiotic stuff about Barack Obama, threatening to set race relations in this country back 20 years or more.  Here was Obama’ response on Tuesday:obama-ferraro.jpg

Now folks, that should have been the end of it, particularly since there was an election in Mississippi yesterday, right? No, she decided to take it another step further.

“Any time anybody does anything that in any way pulls this campaign down and says let’s address reality and the problems we’re facing in this world, you’re accused of being racist, so you have to shut up,” Ferraro said. “Racism works in two different directions. I really think they’re attacking me because I’m white. How’s that?”

Now everyone is up in arms about her idiotic statements and the Obama camp properly called for Clinton to dump this clown as a fundraiser. But consider this, who said her comments were “bad” for the Clinton campaign? That depends on the definition of “bad,” doesn’t it? On Tuesday Hillary Clinton badly needed a quick influx of “new” voters likely to vote for her. But where could she get these voters? Republicans who’ve voted in the Democratic primaries in various states have overwhelmingly chosen Obama. But this time GOP voters went for Hillary Clinton, 3 to 1. Geraldine Ferraro had a job to do timed for the Mississippi election, and she did it. She made comments about Barama’s “advantages” that were music to the ears of Mississippi racists, and they came out in droves, both Democrat and Republican, to vote for the “white candidate,” Hillary Clinton. Geraldine put out the call, and Mississippi’s racists heard it.

UPDATE: Exit polls show Republicans now having substantial influence on the outcome of Democratic primaries. If Hillary Clinton cares at all about the Democratic primary, it’s time for her to quit. Not after Pennsylvania, but before it. On April 22, the day of the Pennsylvania primary, Obama will obtain the insurmountable lead in delegates, meaning that Clinton cannot win, but could only suceed at most in keeping the Democrats from having a nominee until August. The only point in continuing would be to help the Republican Party defeat the Democratic Party in the general election.
