In the post below, AP was reporting that Obama “would” go over the top. However the latest superdelegate endorsements announced officially today (not privately to AP reporters) now put him within 13 delegates of the nomination at this hour. Since he will gain at least 15 delegates from the primaries tonight when the Montana and South Dakota results come in, it will be actual voters who put Obama over the top. This was by design of the Obama campaign. And it also means that Hillary Clinton will be making her speech with Obama’s victory hanging over her head; in that situation she would be foolish indeed not to officially concede. And yes, that is also by design of the Obama organization.
UPDATE: It is the Edwards bloc that jumped to Obama today, that put him in the catbird seat to win the nomination using the Montana and South Dakota results. Once again, yes this was planned.
