An embarrassment of international proportions. According to Spanish newspaper El Libertad, McCain had spoken enthusiastically in April about his eagerness to meet with Prime Minister Zapatero of Spain. Today on a Spanish-language radio interview, after a series of questions about the ongoing US-stoked conflicts in Bolivia and Venezuela, he was asked again about his intention to meet with Zapatero. His response sounded as if McCain had forgotten who Zapatero is. He gave the type of answer you would give if asked about meeting with an unfriendly world leader. McCain is 72 years old and has picked Sarah Palin, a clown who cannot even secure a simple e-mail account, to be his replacement.
CAMPAIGN UPDATE: New polls have Obama up 52-44 in New Mexico, 47-44 in consistent red state Indiana. The cratering of McCain, as predicted on this blog at the height of the hype over his “surge,” has already begun.
