Rick Davis was a Fannie Mae lobbyist and his job was ensuring deregulation and access to John McCain, they paid him $2 million.
“The value that he brought to the relationship was the closeness to Senator McCain and the possibility that Senator McCain was going to run for president again.” Â
This should put the final nail in the coffin of the racist McCain-hate media campaign against Obama, based on a false allegation that Obama had Franklin Raines from Fannie Mae as his “mortgage adviser.” That entire story was never true. It now appears the racist Franklin Raines smear campaign was simply a Rovian pre-emptive attack, since Rove certainly knew all along that Davis was a lobbyist for the failed mortgage bank.
UPDATE: McCain campaign throws hissy fit over the story, although it is totally accurate; Steve “Hey read the National Enquirer dirt on Palin” Schmidt became so desperate to distract from the questioning of liar Davis by the reporters that he launches an attack on the New York Times.
