The G7 meets this weekend. Bush speaks at 10:30am Eastern. At this hour the European markets are down fully 10% of their entire value on opening, after the Japanese stock market closed down 10% of its entire value for the day. If Bush can’t arrange, or help arrange, a globally coordinated solution this weekend, with all the major players together in one place, he will leave the worst legacy of any US President in history, in very tangible terms that everyone understands. Nothing matters to a Republican President more than preserving money and capitalism as the American way of life, and this is no less than the greatest challenge of his entire life.
I don’t think he’s got what it takes.
UPDATE: Wall Street doesn’t think he’s got what it takes, either. The Dear Leader has spoken on television to “reassure” us, and the Dow Jones subsequently lost a full 5% of its entire value as a result.
