Obama Reverses Agreement to Release Torture Photos

This is a mistake that Obama is making for political reasons. He knows that the courts will order the photos released in short order anyway, but hopes to get credit for not being 100% in favor of prosecuting Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and others. He’s not claiming executive privilege, as Bush would have done, nor is he vowing to never release them or claiming extraordinary powers of some king. Nevertheless, it is a mistake.
