Air France Flight Missing Over Atlantic

I do not buy the idea, so far, that a lightning strike caused a crash. All airliners are equipped with an emergency locator beacon, activated in the event of a crash. The only reason I know of that would cause such a beacon not to work is an disintegration or explosion in flight, and lightning strikes on large airplanes are routine and not dangerous.
