Now saying 35 to 60,000 barrels a day. However, this weekend BP sent a letter to the Coast Guard claiming they could capture 80,000 barrels a day in a few weeks. Unless they plan to remove the blowout preventer and redo the well (and they sure as hell aren’t planning on doing that), it means BP has already admitted the oil is flowing at 80,000 barrels a day, dead minimum. I realize some might tire of the constant manipulation of these numbers, but I’d like to point out what position this blog has always taken. All the way back before the public was allowed to see a live internet stream, we have said it was 95,000 barrels a day at least and have not backed down.
