I’ve tried not to post too many “updates” about the ever-changing news story about the top secret military killing raid into Pakistan. However, I recommend these articles to anyone who is interested. First, you have the article explaining that most of the 38 minutes on the ground was spent searching for data on Al Qaeda operations, not in a firefight. The editorial angle here is “ooh, only one person was armed and fought back,” which I think buries the most important factor, which was the thorough search for Al Qaeda data. This second article relates the growing belief that a secret type of US helicopter was used in the raid and had to be demolished. I think that the use of such top secret equipment indicates that the US truly distrusted the Pakistani military and ISI, regardless of any skepticism about what was said in public.
