A month early, by Bush’s orders, the Census Bureau has released the poverty, income, and insurance statistics for 2003 and they are terrible. Now it is official, according to Bush’s own Census Bureau, that 1.3 milion were added to the poverty rolls last year, and 4 million added to the group of Americans that are uninsured. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, the list goes on and on. Normally each year this report is released in late September, but that would have been only a month before the election and impossible to cover over. This Thursday, when the report was released early, is in the very laziest part of the summer for the DC press corps, and in addition the vast majority of the top reporters go on vacation all or part of the week, in anticipation of the GOP Convention which starts Monday. Spread the news and the links far and wide, Bush’s 3rd year in office was an economic failure and a disaster.
