After a major party nominee loses a Presidential election, it is standard procedure to hold a press conference to talk about the loss. Romney hasn’t done this. Instead, he conducted a bizarre phone call in which he spread divisive, racist conspiracy theories about the President. This is honestly sinking much lower than even I expected him to do. In my estimation, his similarly disgraceful behavior during and hours after the deadly attack on US personnel in Benghazi was something that his campaign strategists put him up to, not something he personally enjoyed. Boy was I wrong.

David Petraeus’s successor as NATO and US commander in Afghanistan is now caught in a related email scandal. This is turning into the American Profumo affair.

ABOARD A U.S. MILITARY AIRCRAFT — The FBI probe into the sex scandal that led to the resignation of CIA director David Petraeus has expanded to ensnare Gen. John R. Allen, the commander of U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced early Tuesday.

According to a senior U.S. defense official, the FBI has uncovered between 20,000 and 30,000 pages of “potentially inappropriate” e-mails between Allen and Jill Kelley, a 37-year-old Tampa woman whose close friendship with Petraeus ultimately led to his downfall. Allen, a Marine, succeeded Petraeus as the top allied commander in Afghanistan in July 2011.

The FBI first notified the Pentagon of its investigation into Allen’s communications with Kelley on Sunday evening, according to the senior defense official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the ongoing case.

Note the byline – this reporter is traveling with Defense Secretary Panetta. The Obama administration is cleaning house of corrupt and compromised generals and war figures. It’s time to get out of Afghanistan completely.

This is a textbook example of the classic “non-denial denial” dating all the way back to the Watergate era.

A spokesperson for the CIA Sunday declined to discuss Broadwell’s relationship with Petraeus, whose wife of 37 years, Holly, is the assistant director for service member affairs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. But the spokesperson did reject Broadwell’s allegation that the CIA annex held Libyan militia members as prisoners, telling the Beast:

“The CIA has not had detention authority since January 2009, when Executive Order 13491 was issued. Any suggestion that the Agency is still in the detention business is uninformed and baseless.”

BUT IS IT TRUE OR NOT TRUE?

Mitt Romney advised business owners to threaten workers in order to get them to vote Romney. He used coal miners as props who were ordered to show up for a Romney photo op without pay.

Now their boss, Robert Murray, has fired 156 miners after reading these words to them:
