First uncovered by a blogger at dailykos.com, now the New York Times and the Washington Post also notice that a June 10, 2003 State Department report (4 days after Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times initiated the “Bush lied about uranium” controversy) is the key to this whole leak investigation. Portions of this document were printed in the Wall Street Journal in the fall of that year. Guess whose office issued WMD reports for State in 2002? None other than John Bolton’s, he was head of WMD issues at State at the time.
UPDATE: Read this analysis of this major story. A major source of my opinion that this key State Department memo is this diary by someone called “pollyusa,” I think she deserves a medal for scooping the New York Times on the importance of this document by over two days.
