Bush Forbids Telecoms To Answer Congress on Spying

Now we have a direct showdown. Does this document mean anything at all, or not? This situation has now escalated to nothing short of a constitutional crisis. The media will not cover it this way, but that doesn’t make it one bit less the case. If the President can break the law at will, then forbid his accomplices and witnesses from revealing what he’s done, then the laws of this land don’t mean anything, and neither does the Constitution.
