The situation with Turkey, whose Parliament will vote tomorrow on invading Iraq, is so serious that the Iraqi Vice President (the same one whose bodyguard was murdered by a drunken Blackwater mercenary who goes unpunished in the US today) flew to Turkey to basically beg for mercy and denounce the Kurds. This is the biggest threat to oil prices since the Iranian Revolution, and could have a similar economic effect. More importantly, tens of thousands of innocent people will be turned into refugees if Turkey attacks into Iraqi territory. There are virtually no US troops in the Iraq-Turkish border area to stop the Turkish military from doing whatever they see fit. The US has totally and completely lost control of the situation in Iraq and the surrounding area, and everyone knows it.
