BAGHDAD – A mortar round killed six children when it landed on their home in the Sawmar district of northern Baghdad, the Iraqi military said.

KERBALA – A female suicide bomber killed at least 40 people and wounded 71 in an attack on a cafe near the revered Imam Hussein mosque in central Kerbala, 110 km (86 miles) south of Baghdad, police and health officials said.

TIKRIT – Gunmen kidnapped two off-duty Iraqi soldiers at a fake checkpoint on Sunday in western Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
