Not going to be a good night in Egypt. Or week. Or month. Or year. El Baradei seems to think the same thing. According to Richard Engel’s sources. The crowd in Tahrir square has grown enormously, and is spreading outside the square further into the business districts of the city. BONUS: Senator Jon Kyl, wingnut-AZ, will resign the US Senate! This is how they roll in Alabama Republican politics. Human Rights Watch issued a report yesterday saying that 297 had been killed by the government and pro-government thugs during the Egyptian democracy protests. This is twice the estimated number of people killed in Iran in 2009 during their election protests. Here, on video, is the shooting of at least one unarmed protester, shot from great distance by a laser-guided sniper rifle. narus.info says: Mubarak OUT. Although several were shot dead in the process. See this video from early this morning , , an example of the determination. This graphic accurately shows where the main action, shown for hours on US television yesterday, took place. For a bonus, here’s an incredibly pessimistic, even cynical, take on the situation. UPDATE: Video of police vehicle running over protesters. At least 13 were killed last night. Glenn Beck I am sure is proud of his work. Perhaps this story is exaggerated in saying “the Mubarak regime is falling,” but this is very good news anyway. |
