So you’re the head of the Republican Party, and you’re appearing on a new cable news show hosted by a liberal type who is known above anything else for his tough interviewing style.  Wouldn’t you think that at a bare minimum, you could be ready to answer a question about what the minimum wage in this country is? Cable news has been doing a good job of covering this outrageous story, at least Anderson Cooper and Rachel Maddow have.  This summary with links is very useful. Two otherwise unrelated stories to read.  One is about the hit-and-run death of Neal Alan Smith in St. Petersburg, Florida.  The best news writing I’ve read in a week, other than the Time magazine article on militias posted below.  Less impressive but certainly a fascinating puzzle piece is this article by the reporter targeted by James O’Keefe and his apparently now-dissolved Republican dirty tricks squad. Firing weapons and crawling around for hours in uniforms, these assholes would make Tim Mcveigh proud. It’s because he’s so principled that more Haitians have to die unnecessarily. Well, over a year after the media should have written him off forever as a discredited con man, he’s finished.  Oh, and he was operating on orders from elsewhere, thus proving he’s really just an actor in most of these operations, a puppet.  Some surprise, eh? The wounds seem to have been self-inflicted by the Sheriff’s deputy.  So much for that one, which was celebrated by Jan Brewer and John McCain as reason to back the racist Arizona anti-Hispanic law. Although Bush apparently was hiding it from Blair, the UK PM from 2002 onward that Bush was torturing British subjects.  He essentially did nothing. Do you want this guy and his friends to win? First in a series. And other similar anti-American “immigration” bills, which order local police to hassle American citizens and legal residents according to their superficial appearance. |
